Shipping Policy

1. Order Processing Time

  • Each product is carefully inspected and hand-packed to ensure it survives international transit.

  • Standard Processing: Orders are typically processed and packed within 3–5 business days.

  • Note: We do not ship on weekends or Japanese Public Holidays. Orders placed after 5:00 PM (JST) on Friday will begin processing the following Monday.

2. Shipping Methods & Speed

  • We ship exclusively from Japan, using premium couriers to ensure the safest handling of fragile goods.

  • Primary Courier: DHL Express

  • Estimated Delivery: * USA/Canada: 3–7 business days.

    • Europe/Asia: 4–8 business days.

  • Tracking: All orders include door-to-door tracking. You will receive a tracking number via email as soon as your package is dispatched.

3. International Duties & Taxes (DDP)

  • To provide a "no-surprise" experience for our international customers, we offer Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping at checkout.

  • Total Landed Cost: Our system calculates the 15% US import tariff (HS Code 6912.00) and any local taxes in real-time.

  • Pre-payment: By paying these fees at checkout, your package will clear customs faster, and you will not be required to pay additional fees to the courier upon delivery.

  • Disclaimer: If DDP is not selected or available, the customer is responsible for all import duties, taxes, and brokerage fees according to their local laws.

4. Fragile Packaging Standards

  • Ceramics and other handmade art require specialized care. We utilize a "Double-Box" system:

  1. Your item is wrapped in [Honeycomb Paper/Bubble Wrap] and placed in a fitted inner box.

  2. The inner box is suspended in a larger, heavy-duty outer box with ample shock-absorbing padding.

  • Due to this safety requirement, the shipping weight of your package is often significantly higher than the weight of the product itself.

5. Damaged or Lost Items

  • While we take every precaution, the journey from Japan is long.

  • Inspection Window: Please inspect your ceramics within 72 hours of delivery.

  • Reporting Damage: If an item arrives broken, please email info@bt-art.com immediately with:

    1. Your Order Number.

    2. Photos of the damaged item.

    3. Photos of the interior and exterior packaging.

  • Resolution: Once verified, we will issue a full refund or send a replacement at no additional cost to you.

6. Shipping Restrictions

  • P.O. Boxes: Since we use express couriers (DHL), we cannot ship to P.O. Boxes or military APO/FPO addresses. A physical street address is required.

  • Unclaimed Packages: If a package is returned to Japan because of an incorrect address or a refused delivery, the customer is responsible for the original shipping costs and any return fees.
