bt Art is an online art store offering curated Japanese artworks to a global audience. Our mission is to preserve Japan’s artistic heritage while leveraging digital tools to make it more accessible. Beyond selling art, we also aim to inspire cultural exploration and travel to lesser-known regions of Japan, creating deeper connections between people, local traditions, and communities.
Through seasonal collections and custom commissions, bt Art creates a compelling shopping experience for art enthusiasts, collectors, and culturally curious buyers worldwide.
Our Story
When my wife and I first visited Japan in 2015, we instantly fell in love with everything we saw and experienced. Since then, we have returned multiple times and begun exploring beyond the larger cities. What we discovered was a wealth of history, culture, and art. No matter where we went, a couple things were always constant: the pride taken in everything created, and the artistry and craftsmanship found throughout the lesser-known parts of Japan.
Over the next 10 years, we spent every holiday in Japan. It became an even more important place for us—we eventually got engaged and then married there. We began thinking more seriously about how we could build a life in Japan, not just for ourselves but also for our child. We also felt it was unfortunate that so many travelers rarely ventured beyond Japan’s major cities, and we saw an opportunity: to celebrate Japan’s incredible art and craftsmanship while inspiring others to explore the country more deeply.
Our hope is to encourage travel to lesser-known areas by showcasing their wonderful art and craftsmanship. Each piece will highlight its origin, share its history, and show how buyers can experience it firsthand.
